The 2024 Starry NBA 3-point contest will take place Saturday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 8 p.m. ET (TNT). Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the NBA 3-point contest odds among our expert NBA picks and predictions.
In one of the more anticipated events of NBA All-Star Weekend, 8 sharpshooters will battle it out for the chance at a $50,000 prize. The runner-up gets $35,000, 3rd place gets $25,000 and 4th, 5th and 6th place get $10,000. Damian Lillard won the competition last season.
Golden State Warriors G Stephen Curry brought life back to this competition, and he’ll be in a separate battle with the WNBA’s 3-point champion Sabrina Ionescu. The rules will be the same as the normal NBA 3-point contest with 5 racks of 5 balls each, and the final ball will be worth 2 points.

NBA 3-point contest — The pick
TYRESE HALIBURTON (+440) is the choice. This is his home court. He’s used to these rims, and he’s shooting an even 40% from distance this season. He’s attempting a career-high 7.9 3-pointers per game, and he has a smooth, repeatable release. He was 12-for-26 (46.2%) from 3-point land in his last 3 games. He also made it to the finals in the competition last year, tying the record for points in a round with 31.

NBA 3-point contest — Long shot
MALIK BEASLEY (+650) is my dark horse. The obscure Milwaukee Bucks shooting guard is with his 4th team in as many seasons. He’s averaging just 11.4 points per game and is not an All-Star. However, he ranks 7th in the NBA at 44.4% from long range. He shot 51.5% from deep in his final 4 games before the All-Star break. He could sneak up on the bigger stars in the competition.
Steph vs. Sabrina 3-point shootout
SABRINA IONESCU (+164) is the only play here because Stephen Curry (-215) is priced out of range. It’s not inconceivable that Ionescu wins, though. She led the WNBA with 3.6 3-pointers made per game last season. She also put on a clinic in the WNBA’s 3-point shooting contest, scoring 37 of a possible 40 points, which beat Curry’s NBA record of 31.
Curry also just finished a back-to-back Wednesday and Thursday, and he shot just 2-for-8 from deep Thursday. This is a competition that hinges on stamina, and Curry has already played 50 NBA games this season while Ionescu is fresh.
