We love it when New Zealand and Australia come together for some summer cricket, and the first of three T20 internationals kicks off on Wednesday, and we have our best cricket tips for the match.

The Black Caps host the Australians in Wellington, and there isn’t much between them with cricket betting markets.

Australia is the $1.60 favourite to win on the road with the best betting sites, and it’s going to be an exciting opening game to the series.

Australia vs. New Zealand T20 Predictions

Form can be thrown out the window when the ANZAC rivals meet.

They are two of the best short-form cricket nations in the world, and there is a stack of ability on show in Wellington.

Australia has the advantage of the Big Bash recently being played, so a lot of its players are in-form following the conclusion of the local tournament.

It’s a stacked Australian team, including David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, and Adam Zampa. There are no weak links with the Australian team, so we’re not surprised by the current odds.

However, New Zealand is always tough to beat at home and in the T20 format, so the $2.35 underdogs can’t be overlooked.

They have a stack of talent, including Finn Allen, Devon Conway, and Glenn Phillips, who are primarily short form specialists. Allen and Conway could get the Kiwis off to a fast start with the bat, but we are worried by the middle order.

Not having the class of Kane Williamson is a big loss for New Zealand, and his experience coming in at three would have been great for them. However, Rachin Ravindra had a huge World Cup recently, and it only takes one player to get hot.

Australia has the better bowling lineup. New Zealand has Tim Southee, Lockie Ferguson, and Ish Sodhi, who are excellent bowlers, but not at the same class as Mitchell Starc, Zampa, and Josh Hazlewood.

Therefore, we’re taking Australia to win at $1.60. It’s a fair price for the visitors, who have too much experience to overlook.

Bet: Australia @ $1.60

Top New Zealand Run Scorer – Devon Conway

Conway is a power hitter, and he could get the Black Caps off to a fast start on Wednesday.

He has been in good form this summer, and he’s being respected at the sportsbook on the second line of betting at $4.40.

Allen is the current $4.10 favourite, and he’s also a good chance, but Conway could clear the ropes on multiple occasions and produce a big score.

He’s also a $12 chance to win Player of the Match, which is worth entertaining at the price.

Bet: Devon Conway @ $4.40

Top Australia Run Scorer – Steve Smith

He’s not the most exciting player in the game, but Smith is one of the steadiest batsmen in the world.

T20 isn’t always a big hitters game. If Smith can score early runs, then he’s good at picking up boundaries later in his innings.

He won score 100 off 40 balls, but he could score around 70 off 50, which should be enough to see him top score for the Australians.

Smith is a $5 chance behind Warner and Josh Inglis, and we’re happy to take the value for the former Australian captain.

Bet: Steve Smith @ $5

Richard Mann is sweating on Ravi Jadeja ahead of day two of the third Test in Rajkot, where he is banking on wrist spin doing the business for India.

England endured a frustrating opening day of the third Test with India in Rajkot, the hosts recovering from 33-3 to close on 326-5 thanks to impressive hundreds from Rohit Sharma and Ravi Jadeja.

Jadeja will resume in the morning unbeaten on 110, and with the left-hander already in the book at 8/1 for top Indian first innings batsman, we must hope he can pick up where he left off against an England attack that toiled hard on day one but lacked the cutting edge – Mark Wood apart – to make their early advantage count.

Handing Rohit a couple of lives before he reached fifty came back to haunt England, but they have a new ball to work with when play resumes and if they can somehow restrict India to somewhere in the region of 425, they won’t be out of the Test match.

The ball nipped around early on for the seamers and there was turn for the slow bowlers, but essentially, this looks like a very good pitch for batting and it will be interesting to see how much reverse swing Jasprit Bumrah can find. There wasn’t a great deal on offer for Wood and James Anderson, but Bumrah is the modern master.

Another takeaway from the first day’s play was that while finger spin proved innocuous for lengthy periods, Rehan Ahmed looked England’s most threatening bowler after the new ball had lost its shine and become soft.

Rehan got plenty of spin from the pitch even on day one and crucially, managed to get the ball to bounce from a good length, regularly surprising Rohit and wrapping him on his gloves. Rehan went past Rohit’s outside edge on a number of occasions, too, and I suspect wrist-spin will play a big part as this match evolves.

That ability to extract extra bounce from an essentially docile surface might just set the likes of Rehan and KULDEEP YADAV apart, and I want to be with India’s wrist-spinner when it’s England’s turn to bat.

Kuldeep was outstanding when recalled for the second Test, picking up three wickets in the first innings and for a long time looking likely to give Bumrah a run for his money. Back in the Test side following an impressive run in the limited-overs formats, I expect Kuldeep to remain a big threat for the remainder of the series.

Of course, Bumrah looms a big danger again, as do Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja, but Kuldeep looks to have conditions to suit, and a record in his short Test career that suggests he could not be underestimated. In nine Tests, Kuldeep has 38 wickets at an average of 22.73. His strike-rate is 38.7. Albeit with a much bigger sample size, Ashwin’s strike-rate is 51.5, Bumrah 44.5.

Bookmakers are taking no chances with Bumrah and Aswhin, and with plenty of 4/1 kicking around, we’ll take Kuldeep to do the business on a surface that might just be tailor-made for the left-arm wrist-spinner.

After a 10-day hiatus the Test series between India and England gets back under way at Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday morning.

The home team overcame the loss of several key players to tie it up at 1-1 in Visakhapatnam just days after the tourists had taken a shock lead with a thrilling win in Hyderabad.

The flat wicket anticipated for this pivotal match has encouraged England to pick two seamers for the first time, while India should be boosted by the return of Ravindra Jadeja to their spin attack.

India vs England tips

  • England to win @ 29/10
  • Zak Crawley Over 21.5 Runs – 1st Innings @ 17/20
  • Yashasvi Jaiswal to be India Top Batter – 1st Innings @ 18/5

Stokes’ captaincy can make the difference

England should be refreshed after their break in Abu Dhabi and come right back at an India side that they might now perceive as being there for the taking.

The hosts deserved their 106-run win in the second Test, but England again showed they can handle the conditions with their inexperienced spinners taking 15 wickets in the game.

Set a mammoth 399 to win in the fourth innings, England were still in with a shout at 194-4 until Zak Crawley lost his wicket.

However, the first innings double ton from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jasprit Bumrah’s devastating spell of reverse swing on day two became the catalysts for a home win.

England will hope Jimmy Anderson, who claimed five wickets in Vizag as he closes in on 700 in Tests, can match Bumrah’s threat with the older ball, while the fact that there is a greenish tinge to the surface could help the recalled Mark Wood have an impact.

Ben Stokes’ captaincy will also determine whether England can force a win on a wicket that produced a high-scoring draw when these sides last faced off on it in 2016.

The Three Lions skipper has outwitted his Indian counterpart Rohit Sharma with his bowling changes and field settings so far and, if he outmanoeuvres him again, can set England on a path to victory.

Only one of the 20 Tests since Stokes took charge was drawn and it is almost certainly worth overlooking the prospects of this match finishing in a stalemate to back the tourists at their tempting odds of nearly 3/1.

Cash in on Crawley’s consistency

Despite England coach Brendon McCullum having famously said Zak Crawley was “never going to be a consistent type of cricketer”, the opener’s recent scores suggest otherwise.

Since the start of last summer, the right-hander has scored more runs than any of his team-mates – 748 at an average of 53.42.

And the 26-year-old is averaging exactly 50, with 200 runs from four innings, in the series so far.

He has made 22 or more in eight of his last nine Test knocks and remains the only player in England’s top seven yet to be dismissed by Bumrah.

Young Indian opener enjoying rich vein of form

Crawley’s series average still falls some way short of Indian opener Jaiswal, who has accumulated 321 runs at 80.25 across his four innings to date.

The right-hander judged the conditions perfectly on day one at Vizag, with a chanceless knock of 179 setting up the hosts’ victory.

His form contrasts with that of his captain, who averages just 22.5 so far, and No.3 batter Shubman Gill, who has posted three scores of 34 or less in the series.

India’s middle order has looked vulnerable without the dynamic presence of Virat Kohli or the calming influence of KL Rahul, so it could be up to Jaiswal to do the bulk of the scoring again in Rajkot.

India vs England 3rd Test betting tips

India and England are all square in their Test series ahead of the third match in Rajkot, beginning Thursday morning (4am, TNT Sports 1).

The home side fought back in Visakhapatnam after losing the opening match as Jasprit Bumrah inspired a 106-run victory with a devastating spell of bowling.

England battled hard to chase down what would have been a record fourth-innings score in India, but Ben Stokes’ men were bowled out for 292.

The series remains wide open for both teams, although India’s hopes have taken a knock by the news that Virat Kohli will be out for the remaining three matches.

Shreyas Iyer has been left out of the third Test squad and KL Rahul is still injured, leaving India’s batting thin on experience.

England have had a fitness blow too as Jack Leach has been ruled out of the tour with a knee problem, placing pressure on their three young spinners to carry the load.

Cricket betting sites make India odds-on to win in Rajkot, while England’s 29/10 odds show they’re not complete outsiders on a special occasion for Stokes, who will collect his 100th cap.

Jaiswal to continue breakout series

Before the start of the series, India would have had fears about the future of their batting unit. With Kohli sidelined and Rohit Sharma nearing the end of his career, experience was thin on the ground for the hosts.

Yashasvi Jaiswal made an impression on his Test match debut with 171 against the West Indies, but endured a lean time on the tour of South Africa.

But, he dispelled any notion that he could not hack playing at the highest level against a quality team, blasting an innings of 80 in the first Test. Jaiswal followed up his display with an even better performance in Visakhapatnam, smashing his maiden Test double century.

His knock was the decisive innings of the game, although Bumrah’s spell with the ball prevented England making serious inroads into India’s first-innings total.

Jaiswal’s best knocks have come in the first innings and Sharma will be looking for his rising star to produce once more for the hosts. After looking at betting sites, we’re backing Jaiswal to continue his form with another leading display for India in the first innings at odds of 7/2 with Betway.

Will Hartley step up in Leach absence?

After a brilliant performance in the first Test, Hartley continued the impressive start to his Test career with five wickets at Visakhapatnam.

The left-arm spinner was on point in the second innings with figures of four for 77 to give England a chance to chase down a mammoth score. When Stokes has thrown him the ball Hartley has not disappointed outside of Jaiswal’s assault in the first innings at Hyderabad.

The 24-year-old has taken wickets in a timely manner, although he has lacked control of the run rate.

Without Leach, Hartley will need to step up and find his line and length to keep runs off the board. It’s a big ask in his third Test, but he has already shown that he has the attributes to succeed.

After taking 14 wickets in his first two Tests and looking at the prices on betting apps, we’re backing him to continue to add to the wicket column by striking at least six times in Rajkot at odds of 5/6 with bet365.

India vs England 3rd Test Tip 2: Tom Hartley to take over 5.5 match wickets – 5/6 bet365

Stokes to mark special occasion

Stokes has been a revelation as England Test captain, but his overall achievements in the game cannot be overstated.

He played the pivotal roles in England’s victories in the 2019 World Cup and 2022 World T20, and provided many memorable moments against Australia in the Ashes, winning the urn in the 2015 series.

Time and again when England have needed Stokes to perform, he has put his hand up with bat, ball or in the field to produce a moment of magic. Now as he earns his 100th cap, joining a select group of players, we could see more fireworks from the England captain.

He won’t be bowling in Rajkot due to his longstanding knee injury, but Stokes remains a key cog in the middle order.

BoyleSports are offering odds of 5/2 for him to score a half-century in the first innings or 8/1 to notch a century.

Given Stokes’ love of a big occasion, we’re taking the 8/1 for him to score his 14th Test hundred in Rajkot.

India vs England 3rd Test Tip 3: Ben Stokes to score century first innings – 8/1 BoyleSports

Following two thoroughly absorbing Test matches, India and England will resume battle in Rajkot on Thursday morning, 4:00am UK time with one win each and this five-match series set up beautifully.

The hosts will hope that they have weathered the Bazball storm and following victory in Visakhapatnam, believe they now have a foothold in the series from which they can build on. All-rounder Ravi Jadeja is set to return form injury this week to provide a further boost, though Virat Kohli won’t feature in the final three matches.

For England, they must do without Jack Leach and Harry Brook – the latter in particular proving a big miss already – but they have managed without the pair so far, with Leach unable to bowl much in the first Test and missing the second with a knee problem. The positives are that England have put it up to this fine India side in their own conditions for eight days, and for many of those, have been the better team.

Bazball finds the right balance in India

You get the sense that England’s players don’t buy into the ‘Bazball’ label too much, but absolutely believe in the concept behind the nickname. They have been typically aggressive with the bat in India, but haven’t overdone it. In fact, nobody in the England team has a strike-rate of 100 or above in the series. Ben Duckett has been by some margin their fastest scorer (97.03 S-R), with Tom Hartley next best (77.55 S-R).

I’d say England have played things just about right. They have been proactive against spin, realising that prodding and poking against Ravi Ashwin and co in these conditions leaves you vulnerable and akin to a sitting duck. They have swept well, transferring pressure back onto the Indians in a way they are not accustomed, but England’s batsmen have also trusted their defence when the situation has required. Ben Stokes’ 70 in the first Test was a great example of that.

Where England have let themselves down is in the first innings. They missed a trick in the second Test when not getting close to India’s 396, and their fourth innings victory target of 399 would’ve been substantially less had they been able to find a way to keep the outstanding Jasprit Bumrah and his reverse swing at bay.

Bumrah will continue to be a huge threat with the old ball. But England should take the positives. Unlike every other away team visiting India in the last decade, they have not only nullified Ashwin, they have dominated him at times. His nine wickets so far in the series have come at an average of 36.33, and his economy rate is up at 4.08. Ashwin’s overall career average at home is 21.27, and his economy rate a miserly 2.72. England are doing something right.

Things will get tougher when Jadeja returns to the fold, but England don’t fear spin in these conditions like they did when struggling here in 2021. Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley both failed badly on that tour, but the former made a spectacular, match-winning 196 in the first Test when sweeping with aplomb, while a pair of 70s in the second Test confirmed the latter now has the game to succeed here.

England need more from Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow, but Root really ought to come good at some stage. The tail has wagged, and all in all, England’s batting looks in a very good place if they can just be more ruthless in the first innings. If they put that right, given how well this England team bats in the second innings, India could be in trouble.

Anderson key as Stokes manages young attack

It’s also in the first innings where the bowling has come up fractionally short. Hartley has been excellent on his maiden tour, chalking up 14 wickets, but only three of those have come in the first dig, and Stokes found himself very reliant on James Anderson in the second Test when needing to control the run rate when the pitch looked flat and the spinners didn’t offer much of a threat.

That’s not to say England’s young attack hasn’t performed well. It has. But picking an extra seamer – in this case Ollie Robinson, who was outstanding in Pakistan last winter – would appear the sensible move this week, for all Stokes and Brendon McCullum don’t often take the sensible option. Robinson would offer much and I’m hoping he plays.

Nevertheless, Anderson’s five wickets and in an outstanding display in Visakhapatnam confirmed the 41-year-old to be right back to his best following a disappointing Ashes, and 39 wickets overall in India at 27.51 are impressive numbers in these conditions for a seam and swing bowler.

He’ll continue to be a key weapon for Stokes, and as we have seen already, Hartley and co are more than capable of taking wickets when the pitches deteriorate in the second innings.

I really do give England more than a puncher’s chance of winning the series from here. They are playing with freedom and confidence, and appear to have found a method to score runs against the spinning ball. The largely inexperienced bowling attack is holding its own and in Stokes, they have a terrific captain whom the players trust and would follow over a cliff. It’s a frightening proposition for any opposition team, and as yet, Stokes’ England have yet to lose a Test series.

Of course, beating India in their own backyard is the ultimate challenge for any Test team, but Australia ended last year’s series here on the front foot having also found a method for success in these conditions, and India can no longer revert to default and produce spinning pitches in the confidence that will guarantee success at home. All that does is bring opposition spinners into the game earlier, and the likes of Pope, Crawley, and Usman Khawaja last year, have shown that while obviously very good, India’s spinners are by no means unplayable or indeed unbeatable.

Kohli a big miss as India look vulnerable

India’s own batting has issues. Kohli is a colossal loss. Not only because of the runs he scores, but also the aura he carries and how he inspires those around him. Rohit has so far in the series failed to add substance to his classy cameos, while Shreyas Iyer has now been axed because of poor form.

Yashasvi Jaiswal has been the star of the show, but Anderson will have seen enough last time to know he will continue to cause him problems with the new ball. The hosts will certainly be relieved to have Jadeja back in that middle order, but KL Rahul is another whom they would have been desperate to have back, and there are definite chinks in this batting line-up without him and Kohli.

This series is already bubbling into a classic, one which could go down to the wire, and on what we’ve seen so far, England should be able to put themselves in positions to win one, hopefully two, more matches. As is their way, they’ll make mistakes, but so will India, and I don’t see either side running away with things from here.

With all that in mind, the 11/2 about England winning the series is too big. Even as a trade, I think there’s milage in taking the current odds, with the view of closing the bet if the scoreline is 2-2 heading into the final Test, at which point England would surely be no bigger than 5/2.

On value grounds, I’ll be backing ENGLAND TO WIN THE SERIES, and a small bet on the tourists winning the series 3-2 CORRECT SCORE is also advised at 15/2. Unless the weather spoils the party, 3-2 either way looks the most likely outcome, and there are enough reasons to believe this England team – that has been doing special things for a while now – can pull off another significant achievement.

What are the best bets for the third Test?

In the third Test itself, I’m pretty keen to side with the returning RAVI JADEJA in the top India batsman market.

8/1 is shorter than we are used to getting about the brilliant all-rounder, but it’s with good reason given how much his batting has developed. Once a dangerous lower-order dasher, Jadeja is now the real deal who has two centuries and three Test fifties in the last couple of years as the responsibility placed on his shoulders as a batsman has become ever greater.

Jadeja boasts a strong record with the bat against England too – one hundred and six half-centuries making for good reading, and he top scored in the first innings of the first Test with a measured 87, before being run out in the second innings and subsequently missing the second Test with a hamstring niggle.

Having batted in the top six in Hyderabad, and with Iyer gone and Rahul likely unavailable again, Jadeja should be up the order once more this week. With Hartley now likely to be England’s main spin threat, I’d rather go with a left-hander, especially given the success Jadeja himself, Jaiswal and even Axar Patel – all left handers – have enjoyed with the bat so far.

I’ll happily take on Jaiswal at prohibitive odds, and likely berthed in the middle order, the experienced Jadeja could be the man to hold things together for India just as he has so many times before. At 8/1, he’s worth support.

New Zealand strolled to a 281-run victory inside four days against a severely weakened South Africa side in the first Test at Mount Maunganui last week.

After fielding six debutants at Bay Oval, Proteas captain Neil Brand will hope that his players kick on from the experience as they attempt to avoid losing their first-ever Test series against the Kiwis.

Meanwhile, Black Caps skipper Tim Southee could be part of a remodelled attack, with pace expected to prevail over spin in Hamilton because of the bounce in the track.

New Zealand vs South Africa tips

  • Kane Williamson to be New Zealand Top Batter – 1st Innings @ 13/5
  • Tshepo Moreki to be South Africa Top Bowler – 1st Innings @ 16/5
  • Rachin Ravindra Under 31.5 Runs – 1st Innings @ 17/20

Kane able to make another big score

Kane Williamson demonstrated his class once more with twin centuries in the first Test, following up his patient 118 off 289 balls in the first innings with a sparkling 109 off 132 balls in the second dig.

After six tons in his last six Tests, the right-hander now has more centuries (31) in the format than either Joe Root (30) or Virat Kohli (29).

And the second Test should offer him a fabulous opportunity to draw level with the only other member of cricket’s Fab Four that he currently trails – Steve Smith (32).

Williamson’s record in this format since 2020 makes him the only choice to be his team’s top run scorer again.

He averages 70.36 over his last 19 Tests with 10 centuries, two fifties and a best score of 251.

In home conditions, the 33-year-old has accumulated 1,345 runs in eight Test matches at an average of 112.08 with eight centuries in just 13 innings.

And New Zealand’s star batter currently holds the record for the most runs at Hamilton’s Seddon Park in cricket’s longest format -1,238 runs in 10 Test matches at a staggering average of 88.42.

Proteas quick should enjoy pacier pitch

By all accounts the pitch at Seddon Park will have more bounce and carry for the quick bowlers than the slower wicket in Mount Maunganui did in the first Test.

That should help South Africa’s attack, which is not blessed with as much spin variety as New Zealand’s.

Reports suggest Duanne Olivier’s place could be under threat after he returned figures of 0-119 in the first innings and lost his role as new ball bowler in the second to Dane Paterson.

But right-armer Tschepo Moreki performed better than his Test debut bowling figures of 1-126 suggest and could make best use of the new ball on a harder surface.

He trapped Devon Conway lbw for one to claim a wicket with his first ball in Test cricket

The 30-year-old has taken almost 200 first-class wickets in his career and returned figures of 3-56 and 3-66 in the first innings of his two games for South Africa’s A team against their West Indian counterparts in November.

Double ton hero Ravindra can be opposed

Rachin Ravindra’s first innings score of 240 was a glorious effort, even if he should have been caught on 80, when Olivier spilled a chance in the outfield.

But the graceful left-hander has not made a score above 20 in any of his seven other Test innings to date, including the second knock at Bay Oval when he was caught off the spin bowling of Brand.

Ravindra’s form coming into the series was nothing special, as he had made single figures in his four previous white ball innings, including only two for Wellington against Canterbury at Seddon Park.

Here are the Cricket Betting Tips and Fantasy Cricket Match Predictions for New Zealand vs South Africa, 2nd Test, South Africa tour of New Zealand, at Hamilton, starting on 12th February 2024.

Batting Stats TEST

Match Analyst

The 2nd Test match between New Zealand and South Africa is scheduled to take place in Hamilton on 12th February 2024.

Current Form

In terms of recent head-to-head record in the TEST format, New Zealand and South Africa have faced each other several times.

In their most recent encounters, New Zealand won by 281 runs, South Africa won by 198 runs, New Zealand won by 276 runs, and one match ended in a draw. The most recent match saw South Africa emerge victorious by 8 wickets.

However, with a depleted Proteas squad, due the date clash with the SA20, the most recent result is the most relevant.

Looking at the highest run scorers among the New Zealand squad in the last 2 years, Kane Williamson leads the pack with 1218 runs in 11 matches. Daryl Mitchell follows closely with 1194 runs in 14 matches, while Tom Blundell has scored 1025 runs in 14 matches. Devon Conway has also been a consistent performer, scoring 857 runs in 14 matches.

Among the current South Africa squad, Keegan Petersen has been the highest run scorer with 339 runs in 8 matches. David Bedingham has scored 198 runs in 3 matches, followed by Khaya Zondo with 120 runs in 4 matches. Zubayr Hamza has contributed 89 runs in 2 matches.

Shifting focus to the highest wicket takers among the New Zealand squad in the last 2 years, Tim Southee leads the way with 48 wickets in 14 matches. Matt Henry closely follows with 40 wickets in 8 matches, while Neil Wagner has taken 23 wickets in 6 matches. Kyle Jamieson has also been impactful with 21 wickets in 6 matches.

Among the South Africa squad, Neil Brand has taken 8 wickets in 1 match, making him the highest wicket taker. Duanne Olivier has taken 7 wickets in 3 matches, while Ruan de Swardt and Dane Paterson have taken 3 and 2 wickets respectively in 1 match each.

Overall, the upcoming 2nd Test match between New Zealand and South Africa promises to be an interesting encounter, with the Proteas hoping to make a better fight of it with their depelted squad and the Kiwis hoping to get in some good match pracrtice before their upcoming series against Australia, later in the month.

In the first T20I, Australia batted first and they posted a huge total of 213 for 7 in 20 overs. David Warner and Josh Inglis started off very well and scored 70 and 39 runs respectively. The rest of the middle order struggled but Tim David put his best show by scoring 37 runs off 17 balls to take Australia to a strong total to 213 in 20 overs of play.

During the chase, Brandon King and Johnson Charles gave such an amazing start to West Indies that it looked like they will achieve the target very easily. However, hiccups came in terms of wickets and West Indies were restricted to 202, losing the match by 11 runs.

Let’s have a look at the squads:

Australia
Mitchell Marsh (c), Sean Abbott, Jason Behrendorff, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa
