NBA All-Star Game Props and Expert Betting Predictions

We are just a couple of days away from NBA All-Star Weekend. We have skills competitions, including the dunk and 3-point contests on Saturday. On Sunday night from Indianapolis, Indiana, the best players in the league will converge in an East vs West showdown.

Well, I don’t know if we can call it that. Let’s just call it a show. There won’t be many guys being posterized in the All-Star Game. There will be lots and lots of lobs, some from teammates, and some will be underhanded tosses off the backboard into a likely two-handed hammer dunk that gets the crowd on their feet.

Oh, and threes. There will be a lot of 3-point shots attempted and likely made as well, seeing as there is virtually no pressure on any of the players. Last year, the two teams combined to attempt 126 shots from beyond the arc in the All-Star Game. Hey, they managed a respectable 36%. I guess that’s good for nearly no defense.

I want to pick a side for the game, and also some player props. The scoring can get out of hand, though. Wait until you scroll down and see this point total.

Doc’s Sports offers NBA picks for every game on our NBA predictions page.

NBA All-Star Game Betting Odds

West: -3

East: +3

I understand the West being the favored team. They have more superstars, but that’s also why I can see the East winning. The high-profile players will likely enjoy the show in the second half.

There will be players from the East making their first or second appearance, and you know they will be hungry to shine on such a special stage.

For a very small wager, I will take the East (+3) in the All-Star Game.

Pick: East (+3)

Moneyline

West: -152

East: +128

Over 361 (-110)

Under 361 (-110)

Say what?!

Last season, the two teams put up 359 total points. If you know anything about predicting point totals, you know that they get more difficult the higher the number. This one is way up there.

Thankfully, we have some profitable prop bets for you to take the place of this point total.

Tyrese Haliburton

Over 13.5 Points: -118

Under 13.5 Points: +102

How cool is this guy’s name? I’ve never met a Haliburton and the only Tyrese I know is still making Fast and Furious movies.

He is the hometown guy, though. That’s what I love here. He is more of a passer than a scorer, however, and he likely won’t need to dish out as many assists because he isn’t likely to get defended on his shots and drives to the hoop.

This number isn’t much for the only hometown player. You know the fans want him on the court, and this game is for the fans.

Pick: Over 13.5 Points (-118)

Trae Young to Score at Least 15 Points: +235

Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks is an absolute assassin, and I mean that in every sense of the word. It’s not only his style of play, but it’s his personality. The guy shows up when he wants to show up. That, of course, can be a detriment as well, but that’s life. Our best quality is usually our worst.

Why would such a person show up on All-Star Sunday? Well, tell him he can’t come because he didn’t make the team. Make him mad. Then, we bring the angry bull into the arena to blow right through the matador-style defense we will likely see in this game.

Devin Booker to Score at Least 20 Points: +114

Devin Booker knows how to score! The guy doesn’t look that fast, explosive, or athletic, but he gets the job done. On a West team frontloaded with aging stars, I expect a player like Devin Booker, who never takes a night off, to pick up the slack.

We are getting plus-money on him to put up 20 or more. Here is another potential shoulder chip that could help us on a bet. Booker was ejected from a game yesterday against the Pistons in the first quarter.

The Phoenix Suns are not happy with the league, and you know Booker echoed those sentiments from the locker room. I like the bet either way, but a little fire is precisely what could put a player’s performance over the top in the All-Star Game.
