Although they are not the favorites, the Green Bay Packers are among the five teams with the shortest odds to land the services of superstar running back Derrick Henry in free agency, (h/t Max Dible Heavy.)

The Packers came in at +1000 to nab Henry, who will hit free agency on March 13 assuming he doesn’t agree to an extension with the Titans before then. That outcome is highly unlikely, as Henry is now 30 years old and has said among his primary motivations to continue playing for multiple seasons is to compete for, and ultimately win, a Super Bowl ring.

Derrick Henry Could Be An Interesting Free Agent Target For The Green Bay Packers

At 30 years old, Henry’s window as an elite running back is now significantly smaller. That being said, any team who would win the Derrick Henry sweepstakes is almost virtually guaranteed a much better rushing attack in the 2024 season, at least. The Green Bay Packers, while they still have Aaron Jones, might be able to extend his shelf life if he finds himself in the same backfield with Henry — and vice versa.

Henry has carried the rock a total of 629 times in the past two seasons for 2,705 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns with the Tennessee Titans. He doesn’t have to carry that much of a load if he ends up suiting up for the Green Bay Packers, who have a more robust offense than the Titans, who were ninth in the NFL in 2023 in rushing play percentage.
