2023-24 NFL MVP odds: Patrick Mahomes new favorite to win MVP

The 2023 NFL Draft is over, so that means one thing. It’s time to look ahead to the upcoming football season. And one forecast we’re particularly interested in is the MVP odds market.

Yes, we know — the engraving is relatively fresh on the MVP trophy that Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes collected before he led his squad to their second Super Bowl in four years. However, it’s never too early to speculate about how next year’s most valuable player race will unfold.

Before the draft, Bills quarterback Josh Allen was the favorite to take home the prestigious award. But his odds have slightly lengthened, as he now sits third on the list.

Will Showtime Mahomes — Mr. Half a Billion who some would argue is underpaid — run it back next season and grab top honors for the third time? Or will his conference rival Josh Allen snag the coveted trophy?

Let’s dive into the odds for the 2023 NFL MVP via FOX Bet (top 10 choices).

Patrick Mahomes (+650 at FOX Bet) — Kansas City Chiefs

Mahomes is the current favorite at FOX Bet to win next year’s MVP, and that’s understandable because is there anything Mahomes can’t do? So far, it looks like the answer is no.

K.C.’s leading man has won two Super Bowls in four years, is a two-time Super Bowl MVP and two-time regular season MVP. And that’s barely scratching the surface of his long list of accomplishments since he became the Chiefs starting QB in 2017.

The Chiefs also added WR Rashee Rice in the draft, giving the star signal caller another weapon.

Betting on Mahomes to run it back next year sounds like a solid proposition.

Joe Burrow (+700 at FOX Bet) — Cincinnati Bengals

Joe Cool Burrow and the Bengals were one game away from making a second consecutive trip to the Super Bowl. Instead, they fell to the eventual champions in the AFC title game. No one can blame Burrow for that game’s outcome.

The Bengals have a bright future with Burrow at the helm. He battled back from injury, went 22-of-33 in the 2021 Super Bowl against the Rams and finished with 4,475 passing yards in 2022, which was fifth-best in the NFL.

Our FOX Sports football crew liked what Cincinnati did in the draft. Let’s see if it will be enough to help Burrow win the award.

Wagering on Burrow at +700 might end up making dollars and sense.

Josh Allen (+700 at FOX Bet) — Buffalo Bills

Even though Josh Allen opened as the favorite to win NFL MVP in 2023 at FOX Bet, his odds lengthened slightly after the draft from +650 to +700.

He finished his 2022 campaign with 4,283 passing yards, 35 touchdowns and a 71.4 passer rating. As a matter of fact, over the last three seasons, he has eclipsed 4,000 yards.

He led the Bills to a 13-3 record in 2022, and if the Bills get 13 wins or better next season, Allen would be one of the front-runners to win the award.

Tua Tagovailoa (+1700 at FOX Bet) — Miami Dolphins

Tua rounds out the top 10 at +1700. Can the former Crimson Tide QB stay healthy enough next season to keep his name in the MVP conversation?

In 2022, he was plagued with back injuries and concussions and only appeared in 13 games. But over the course of those 13 games, Tua passed for 3,548 yards and 25 touchdowns. The signal-caller also played in 13 games during his 2021 campaign and threw for 2,653 yards and 16 touchdowns.

If health is on his side, Tua’s numbers could be even more incredible than years past. With that in mind, sprinkling a few bucks on South Bay’s QB at +1700 could be a long-shot bet worth making.
