Familiarity is the theme for the NFL Wild Card Weekend odds this year, as three teams in this opening round are division foes and the other three matchups feature clubs that have already squared off on the field this season.

The divisional matchups include Seattle at San Francisco, Miami at Buffalo and Baltimore at Cincinnati. This latter matchup will be one of the most popular at Ohio sports betting apps, as the Bengals and their fans were understandably not happy about the potential for a coin flip to decide the location of this matchup and will carry that emotion over into this week.

The non-divisional battles are the Los Angeles Chargers at Jacksonville, the New York Giants at Minnesota and Dallas at Tampa Bay in only the second playoff game ever held on Monday Night Football. That latter matchup will drive a lot of wagering interest, as it features the star-studded Cowboys roster going up against Tom Brady in what could be the GOAT’s last game. Sunday, Jan. 15

Baltimore Ravens at Cincinnati Bengals – 8:15 p.m. ET

The history of this rivalry is one of dominance shifting from one team to another. Right now, the Bengals have that dominance, as Cincinnati has won three out of the past four games between these teams, but these clubs did split the regular season series in 2022. Who Dey Nation can find some lucrative Ohio Sportsbook promo codes now that sports betting is legal in the Buckeye State.

Baltimore could get an offensive upgrade if Lamar Jackson, who has been out with a knee ailment and hasn’t practiced in five weeks, is somehow ready to play. Online sportsbooks seem to have some faith Jackson is returning, as the over/under in total points for this contest is 43.5 points despite Baltimore having scored 17 or fewer points in six consecutive games.

The Bengals have taken on the mindset of Joe Burrow and thus have another Super Bowl berth as their goal. A league best 12-2 mark since Week 2 will push a team’s thinking in that direction, as will scoring 83 points over the last three full games of the season despite facing strong defenses in each of those matchups. Cincinnati is also a great team to make NFL prop bets on, as few teams can match the talents of Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Mixon, Tee Higgins, Samaje Perine and Tyler Boyd.

Monday, Jan. 16

Dallas Cowboys at Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 8:15 p.m. ET

Last year’s initial Monday Night Football playoff game was a less than stellar battle between the Rams and Cardinals, so the NFL decided to send the most compelling matchup on the board to the Monday night slot this year and it should generate significant interest on sports betting apps.

Dallas doesn’t always play to its talent level, as evidenced by last week’s dismal showing against Washington, but give the Cowboys credit for bouncing back from defeat, as every loss this year was followed by an impressive victory the following week. The key to the Dallas effort will be a ground game that at one point had rattled off 115+ rushing yards in 11 straight games but has been held to only 151 ground yards over the past two weeks combined.

Tampa Bay’s rush defense has played to the elite form it showed in recent years on more than a few occasions this season, as the Buccaneers have allowed 74 or fewer rushing yards in five of the past nine games. That will be key, as the Brady-led offense has led this team to 20+ points only two times in the last seven weeks and generated more than 23 points only twice this entire season.
